Masi– A Pioneer in Finnish Winter Tools Since 1982
Masi’s story began in Rauma, Finland, in 1982, when we manufactured Finland’s first snow pushers made from polyethylene. Since then, we have continued to develop and manufacture durable, high-quality winter tools designed to withstand the demanding conditions of the Nordic climate.
Over more than 40 years, Masi has grown into a well-known Finnish quality brand trusted by both households and professionals.
Our History
1982
The first snow pushers were manufactured in 1982
The idea of a snow pusher made from polyethylene had been taking shape in the desk drawer of our company’s founder, Teuvo Sallinen, for a couple of years before the right partners were found and the first MASI snow pushers were manufactured in 1982.
HDPE had already been used in other products manufactured by our company, such as tractor mudguards. The material was known for its low-friction surface and excellent resistance to cold, withstanding temperatures as low as −40°C.
1980s
In the 1980s, the Masi snow pusher replaced its competitors made from reinforced materials and sheet steel
The launch of the new product was a great success, and by the end of the 1980s, the “lightweight, durable and easy-gliding” Masi snow pusher had replaced its fibreglass and sheet steel competitors in Finland. Competitors also began using the material after its benefits had been proven.
Masi continued to develop its product range. Alongside the original Masi 80 snow pusher, we introduced the larger Talkkari model with a scraping wear edge and the smaller Masi 60 model. All three models remain part of our product range today in updated versions.
1990s
In the 1990s, the product range was expanded.
The launch of the new product was a great success, and by the end of the 1980s, the “lightweight, durable and easy-gliding” Masi snow pusher had replaced its fibreglass and sheet steel competitors in Finland. Competitors also began using the proven material.
Masi continued to develop its product range. Alongside the original Masi 80 snow pusher, we introduced the larger Talkkari model with a scraping wear edge and the smaller Masi 60 model. All three models remain in our product range today in updated versions.
1996
In 1996, the 200,000th Masi snow pusher was delivered.
2000s
In the early 2000s, a new assembly technique was introduced.
2002
In 2002, we divided our operations between Susivuori and Hakunintie.
2005
In 2005, we introduced the Masi Lightweight Snow Pusher.
In autumn 2005, we introduced the new affordable Masi Lightweight Snow Pusher for the value-oriented consumer market. In autumn 2007, we celebrated Masi’s 25th anniversary while continuing to focus on what we do best – making quality tools.
2012
In 2012, the one millionth Masi winter tool was produced.
2014
In 2014, aluminium-shafted shovels and snow pushers were introduced.
In autumn 2014, the new and distinctive Polar AL range of aluminium-shafted shovels and snow pushers strengthened our position as one of the leading suppliers of winter tools in the Nordic region.
2016
In 2016, the Masi Nova Max Snow Pusher was introduced.

2018
In 2018, a new scraping Hardox® wear edge was introduced.
The Masi Iso Talkkari Snow Pusher was introduced, featuring an exceptionally durable scraping Hardox® wear edge designed for a long service life.
2019
In 2019, a new generation of ergonomic handles was introduced.
Masi shovels were upgraded with even sturdier handles, featuring an ergonomic grip angle that keeps the wrists relaxed and a generously sized design that comfortably accommodates even large winter gloves.
Masi is made to fit Finnish hands.
2023
Masi Swing 360° and the new Masi Sleds
The new and innovative Masi Swing 360° was launched to continue the success of the Masi Swing. At the same time, the new Masi Sleds were introduced, combining outstanding durability with distinctive Scandinavian design.
2025
Iskas Oy Becomes Part of Masi
Iskas Oy became part of Masi, expanding the Masi product range beyond winter tools to include garden tools and specialised tools for professional use.
